Piala Dunia 2010 - Liverpool skipper Steven Gerrard insisted the Manchester City player, Adam Johnson, should be included in the final 23 squad for Fabio Capello to World Cup 2010 finals in South Africa next June.

Piala Dunia - 30 squad, while Capello is currently undergoing training camp at a camp in Austria. Johnson a late Gerrard feels the national team squad has shown a pretty good series of performances with City after moving from Middlesbrough in January last.

"Adam looks fantastic when exercising. He is a typical left-winger, who has a good cross into the penalty box and looks good on the ball," Gerrard told reporters. "We'll wait and see what happens with Fabio in the 23 player squad for the final," said the player who defends the Three Lions since 2000 this past.

That way, if Gerrard has a strong belief that City winger will be a plane with 22 other British players to South Africa. Gerrard believes Johnson's talents would take him to the world stage. "I believe that Adam had a fantastic opportunity to go to the World Cup because he is a very talented player," Gerrard said.

Meanwhile, Gerrard has also put a sense of sympathy on the fate of Chelsea star, Michael Ballack, who will not take part in world soccer tournament this summer.

German player was suffering from leg injury during his club pegelangan play in the FA Cup final against Portsmouth. Suffering reminds Ballack Gerrard on the injury he had ever experienced. "I'm sorry for what happened to Michael Ballack. I know exactly how he feels," said Gerrard.

Gerrard missed the 2002 World Cup held in South Korea and Japan because of injury after the match against Ipswich at the time the closing season. "Back in 2002, I suffered an injury and could not take part (in the World Cup)," he recalls. "One of the worst that can happen to you as a footballer is missed the World Cup," said Gerrard.

Players who had defended the Reds since 1998 is sure to Germany without Ballack will remain fearful because they have a lot of great players. Gerrard said: "We know Germany is very strong, has good players, and I'm sure they could survive without him, but still he is a fantastic player."
